Multiplication

I know it's a little weird, and probably qualifies me as both a nerd AND a geek, but I am a fish breeder. I buy fish that look like good parents (of course I can tell), and check often to see if any of the females are developing that tell-tale "gravid" spot (ie. if they are looking preggers). I rejoice when one of my fish has babies just when I put her in the breeder.

Now all of this would be good geeky fun, if only my fish did not have one little problem: They have babies often. Like every 40 days. And they have lots of babies. About 20-30 every time they have babies. I'm not that great at math, but I think that equals 3 zillion fish by the time train A and train B meet in san fransisco.

I probably should just let the fish have their babies, and let the other fish eat the babies. Free fish food, right?

If you said "yeah, that sounds great," you are a heartless baby-killer. Unlike me. I save all the babies I can. Which is why I have a bazillion fish.

An even bigger problem is that I want to get rid of that fish tank, but I can't because I have so many fish (and keep having more). I'm like one of those cat people who have to call the police on their cell phones to come and shoot all the stray cats they brought into their home, who gathered, designated a leader, and slowly took over the house, chewing through the phone cords, and trying to smother their "owner" in her sleep.

Except I have fish. And they don't try to kill me or cut off my communication from the rest of the world.

So I guess it's not really that bad.

But if you want a swordtail, call me. (If you want about 40 of them, I can do that for you too).

Are they violent fish? Do they attack other fish? If not, I'd totally take one! Or use your awesome fish observation skills to find me a friendly one. :)

to Littleone4403...I don't know who you are. If you tell me, maybe I can hook you up with a fish. They are a peaceful community fish. See pictures of the kind of fish here: http://aqualandpetsplus.com/livebearer,%20swords.htm

Ahh, Kate, this makes me miss you and your lovely sense of humor terribly! I need to hang out with you soon; I'm having Kate-withdrawal! I particularly enjoy the line about the trains. How clever!
